Course Content

Covering Letters and CVs for Job Applications

We start with CV writing, discussing how to structure your CV, what to include and what not to include. At the end of this session, you will build your own CV with your own information. Then there is a session which looks at the difference between a CV and a resume and when to use either one. We then produce a functional resume in the functional resume writing session. In the cover letter writing session, we discuss how to begin and end a cover letter and what to include in between. At the end of this session you will write your own cover letter.

Job Interviews in English

Once we have all the documentation ready we look at how to apply for a job in English. The second half of the course concentrates on job interview techniques in English.

We start with general tips about job interviews in English. Then we discuss how to approach difficult questions in an interview. Next there is a session about what competency based interviewing is and how to handle it. Then we discuss group interviews and how to shine in them. Finally, we will review of all of the sessions to make sure you are fully prepared to find a job in English.

Carrie Lillie has been teaching English as a foreign language for over fifteen years. This has given her the opportunity to live and work in England, Spain and Mexico. In these far-flung places, she has taught in schools, language academies, universities and businesses.

Her experience includes preparing students for official exams such as Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE as well as TOEFL (like IELTS a major worldwide English language test). She is also a Michigan ECCE and ECPE examiner.

As an online learner herself she is excited to work with Perfectly Spoken, this time on the other side of the camera, to provide dynamic online classes for all types of students.
